Hype: What Survives It, What Doesn't

 Hey, guys!

I've been wanting to make a post about trendy books and which ones deserve the hype... and which ones aren't as great as they're made out to be. Now, I've finally gotten around to it!

So here are some books that survive- and deserve!- the hype, and also some that don't.

1. A Whole New World-Liz Braswell

Okay, this one is basically representing the whole Twisted Tales series, not just the first book. I absolutely love the concept of the Twisted Tales series, but the books are hit or miss for me. For example, When You Wish Upon a Star, Unbirthday, and Part of Your World were amazing, and I'd read them a thousand times over. On the other hand, What Once Was Mine, Sally's Lament, and How Far I'll Go just didn't do it for me. So I'd give this one a 5/10 stars.

2. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants-Ann Brashares

One hundred percent this deserves the hype. I'm not sure how trendy this book is anymore, but at one point this was the teen staple of reading, and for good reason. This book is incredible and emotional, and I loved every minute of it! I'd give this one an 8/10 stars.

3. Code Name Verity-Elizabeth Wein

Wow. This book cuts right to the heart with its brutal honesty in its depiction of war. If you're looking for a historical fiction novel for teens, this one is perfect. However, the writing style is a bit hard to power through sometimes, so I'll be putting this one at a 6/10 stars.

4. Cinder-Marissa Meyer

YES, YES, YES. This book survives the hype, deserves the hype, and leaves every other book for miles around groveling in its wake. This is an incredible debut and absolutely MUST be on every teens TBR list. This book is a definite 10/10 stars!

5. The Maze Runner-James Dashner

This book DEFINITELY deserves the hype! With its incredible story, lovable characters, and lightning-paced action, this book is a must. I definitely recommend it if you like dystopian fiction! I'd give this a 10/10 stars in a heartbeat.

That's five for today, but tune in to my other posts if you want more!

Thanks for viewing, and happy reading!
