The Summer We Forgot

The Summer We Forgot
By Caroline George

The Summer We Forgot synopsis:

Some memories are better left forgotten.

Darby and Morgan haven't spoken for two years, and their friend group has splintered. But when the body of their former science teacher is found in the marsh where they attended camp that summer, they realize they have more questions than answers... and even fewer memories.

No one remembers- or no one is talking.

The group of reunited friends begins to suspect that a murderer is stalking the coastal highway 30A, and they must try to recover their memories as quickly as possible... before the history they can't remember repeats itself.

Everyone has a secret.

As tensions rise and time runs out, Darby and Morgan begin to wonder if they can believe one another... or if they can even trust themselves.

If someone were to ask me to write an essay about the author I think is the best at what they do, I would have enough words about Caroline George to write a novel. She is so talented, and this book did not disappoint! I absolutely loved the mystery, thrills and chills, romance, and pure friendship this novel contains. I was up late devouring this book, and even as I set it down, I was still raving about it in my mind, dying to know how it would end. This book is an absolute treasure, and I would gladly push this into anyone's hands with high praises. If you want a fast-paced murder mystery, this is definitely one you should try.

Content Warnings: There's quite a bit of violence, including murder, death, attempted kidnapping, and a car accident, and there's very mild language worked in- nothing terrible, just crude. There's also a few instances of teen partying, which includes some drug use, vaping, and underage drinking and intoxication, and there are mild sexual themes, including one character's pedophilia. However, every one of these instances is dealt with in a super closed-door manner, and I wouldn't say it was an inappropriate book whatsoever. All in all, I would recommend this for teens aged 15+. Happy reading!
